Under the Peskit bridge

It was five to midnight. The streets silent, the lights off. Only footsteps were heard in the night under the Peskit Bridge.

“Hello?” Came a voice from under the bridge. It was a creature. It looked like a gorilla-like man. “My name’s Gordy. I know you’re here,” His voice loud and low-pitched. “I can smell you.”

A huge lizard slowly slithered its slimy body across the black dark floor. It hissed and spat on Gordy.

“Disgusting.” snarled Gordy looking at the green liquid that had come out of the giant lizard’s mouth. Gordy looked up and the lizard was no longer there. Instead there was a man with a lizard’s head, which was slowly transforming into a man’s head.

“I’m sorry,” said the lizard man in a British accent as he cleaned his shirt. “My name is Gump and by the way, I apologize for my smell.”

Gordy got his four-fingered hands out of his pockets. “You don’t belong here,” calmly said Gordy while he reached into his coat pocket and held a gun, still hidden inside his coat. “You kill innocent people to live and frighten people.”

Gump laughed. “Yes, that is kind of amusing and I don’t kill innocent people, I kill children. People, you see are quite crunchy and I don’t like it, but children are great really meaty.”

“You disgust me.” said Gordy as he pulled out his gun. But before he could even pull the gun completely from his coat, there was a loud whipping sound and Gump’s tail had thrown away the gun from Gordy’s hand with his tail.

“I wouldn’t have done that if I were you.” said Gump after transforming his tail back into a leg.

“How did you transform so fast?” Gordy said amazed.

“I have a few tricks up my sleeve, but about business.” said Gump transforming his body into a giant lizard and whipping Gordy square in the face making him fall far away. Gordy growled.

Gump transformed only his head to human form and spat on Gordy. He shook his head and reached for the gun and Gump whipped it away from him.

“All you cops are so predictable,” teased Gump in a childish tone. “You just want to shoot things and get it done with. You think you’re such heroes.”

“I’m not a cop,” said Gordy catching his breath. “I don’t serve the human world, I serve all things alive,” Gump’s head became a lizard’s head again. Gordy caught his breath and he started to get angry. “And guess what, you’re a threat to it!” And he punched Gump square in the face and he shot backwards, hitting the wall of the bridge.

Gordy ran to his gun, picked it and shot the creature right in the chest. It hissed in pain, snarled and when he opened his eyes, Gordy was running towards him and before Gump could do anything, Gordy kicked his stomach with his four-towed foot.

Gump shot up and hit the ceiling but stayed there. His head morphed into a human head. “I’m a lizard remember? I have some advantages.”

Gump fell right on top of Gordy and curled up around him. Gordy struggled but couldn’t get free. He tried to reach the knife in his leg but it has too far.

He remembered that when Gump saw any sudden movement, his instinct made his tail whip it away.

Gordy reached into his coat pocket, grabbed a cigarette box and threw it into the air. Gump hissed and jumped into the air to whip the cigarette box and his head hit the tunnel ceiling. Gordy firmly grabbed his knife, jumped into the air and stuck the blade into the creature’s tail. It hissed and struggled and fell to the floor. It yanked the blade out of its tail. A blue liquid was oozing out of his tail.

He looked sharply at Gordy and ran towards him. Gordy cracked his knuckles and ran towards him too.

The collapsed into each other and hit the floor. Gordy punched Gump in the face. The creature shook its head and bit Gordy. There was a scream that pierced through the silent night.

Gordy scratched the creature and fell to the floor, unable to get up. He saw the knife and discretely picked it up, pretending he was still in pain. He turned around and Gump was now in a human form, his leg and face still bleeding. He was slowly heading for Gordy’s gun lying on the floor.

“I know I don’t eat fully grown humans, or whatever you are,” spoke Gump in an annoying tone. “But, I guess it’s not that bad.” He shot Gordy in the leg who yelled, still firmly holding on to the bloody blade.

Gordy pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and threw it at Gump’s face. Gump caught it in the air, but before he could do anything, Gordy was running in his direction with the blade in his hand. He stabbed Gump in the chest with the blade.

He fell to the floor rapidly morphing from human to lizard and back uncontrollably before his inevitable death.

Gordy got his knife from the enemy’s chest and wiped it with the handkerchief. He walked up to his gun, picked it up and got a cigar from his box of cigarettes on the floor.

“As they would say in ancient Rome,” spoke Gordy dropping some ashes onto the body. “Ab alio spectes alteri quod feceris.” With that said he grabbed the dead body and threw it down the sewer.

That's the end of chapter 1.

Chapter 3 will be released March 20.
